Baptism
Last week in Common Ground, I shared my message on the topic of baptism. The catch was that I actually taught it the night before from the Worship Center. We captured the heart of the message on video to bring the students on location of how baptism works here at First Baptist Church.
I spoke from the pew, front of the church, choir loft, dressing rooms, and then finally the baptistry. We talked about the meaning and importance of baptism. The theme of the message was this..."Baptism does not save you, it just paints a picture of what has already happened in your heart."
If you are thinking about baptism, please do not hesitate to contact me. The most important decision to be made is... "Trusting Christ as your Savior." Never forget that telling everyone about it through baptism is quite amazing too.

Reality Weekend Wrap
It is done and finished. Another weekend in the books. It was quite possibly the best one yet. The combination of Jared Herd, Marquis Laughlin, and Pocket Full of Rocks created a dynamic atmosphere as they led us in worship. The power of God was evident in the Gatherings.
Our service projects were impacting as two van loads of food were collected for Dixonville and over $1200.00 was given to the New Beginnings Pregnancy Center. It was a great experience for our students.
Thank-you to all those who hosted homes, provided meals, transported kids, shared scholarships, prayed, and everything else in between. It could not have happened without you!
We have increased our host homes from 7 to 12 in two years. Let's pray that 2009 will be just as incredible. Our reach has extended very much! Finally, please pray for students on the "verge" of taking steps of salvation and baptism. Some steps were made through the weekend along with many seeds planted.

Reality Weekend is almost here!
Reality Weekend is just one day away! The Rally fit the perfect description of controlled chaos! It was a great time of preparation and worship as the host homes and college leaders were officially unveiled.
Here are some things to make note of as the weekend approaches...
#1) Check the what to bring list and pack what is needed.
#2) Check the what not to bring and do list. This year we want to work harder than ever before to protect students and the perception of the church.
#3) You are encouraged to wear your t-shirt to school Friday and bring it to the weekend. They can be washed in the host home and worn Sunday to church. If your t-shirt does not fit, we can defiantly try to trade.
#4) If you are going to be gone at any point during the weekend and have not informed us, please do so immediately.
#5) If you have a friend that would like to come, we do have a couple of spots open in a few homes. Just let me know and we will see what we can do. No guarantees for a t-shirt.
Please pray that God would be honored and students lives be changed. When you help change the life of a kid, you make steps to changing the world.

Reality Weekend
The deadline is complete. If you have a late form...here is how it all works. We would still love to have you, but our capacity is dependent upon the amount of Host Homes we have. If there space, you can come on into the weekend. The catch is that there is no guarantee for a t-shirt or being in a home with everyone on your list. Either way, it will be a great experience!

Wednesday Night
There are two big things coming up this Wednesday night, January 9th. You defiantly do not want to miss them!
#1) Common Ground will be back up and running. Common Ground is just 1 1/2 years old and is experiencing rapid growth. It will happening in the Gym from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. Our topic will be "Bounce." How do we bounce back from our mistakes?
#2) Reality Weekend deadline will officially arrive. Simply grab a form and sign-up. Place 3 people you would like to be in a home with and we can guarantee 1. You will certainly be in a house with people you know. If you have to miss part of the weekend...it's okay! Just note it on the form when you are going to be absent. Also, do not forget to place a check for $45.00 in the envelope, which will cover all weekend expenses. If you need a scholarship, it is no big deal...just ask us!
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.
