Middle Schooler and Sexuality Part #3

This is the the final part of our sex series. It has been a very healthy look into God's perspective on sex. God gave us such an incredible gift, but we have tarnished it. Here are just some tips for a Middle Schooler to consider now and on into high school.

WHAT IS A MIDDLE SCHOOLER SUPPOSE TO DO?

#1) Think About the Big Picture

#2) Avoid Sexual Situations

#3) Date only Christians

#4) Set Your Standards & Make Them Known

#5) Look to the Word of God

Sexual Purity is Possible

Middle Schoolers and Sexuality Part #2

Here is part 2 of our sex series for Middle School Students. God gave us the gift of sex, but the world has broken it. The question at hand is how you will respond to God's perfect plan for sex as compared to the world's broken version.

WHAT WENT WRONG?

The WORLD is LYING to you.

HOW DID THE WORLD BREAK GOD'S PLAN?

#1) HOMOSEXUALITY - “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” (Romans 1:26-27)

#2) PORNOGRAPHY - “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.” (Ephesians 5:3)

#3) ADULTERY - “Marriage should be honored by everyone, and husband and wife should keep their marriage pure. God will judge as guilty those who take part in sexual sins.” (Hebrews 13:4)

#4) BEFORE MARRIAGE - “Don't use your body for sexual sin like the people who do not know God.” (1 Thessalonians 4:5)

Will I BUY the LIE?

Middle Schoolers and Sexuality #1

Here is part 1 of our sex series with Middle Schoolers. It is happening each week at Common Ground. Everyone else is talking about it...why not the church?

WHAT IS GOD'S PLAN FOR SEX?

THERE ARE TWO LIES ABOUT SEX.

#1) Sex is WRONG - “For everything God created is good…” (1 Timothy 4:4)

#2) Sex is LIMITLESS - “Don't use your body for sexual sin like the people who do not know God.” (1 Thessalonians 4:5)

WHY DID GOD CREATE SEX?

#1) REPRODUCTION - “Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” (Genesis 1:28)

#2) MARRIAGE - “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

#3) MAN & WOMAN - “As the Scriptures say, ‘A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’” (Ephesians 5:31)

#4) PLEASURE - “Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth. She is a loving deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love.” (Proverbs 5:18-19)

God’s PLAN for sex is GOOD!

Burly/Gurly Wrap-Up

It was a great event. It was a blessing to see so many students participate. Here is how it all went down...

Boys: Eat, eat, and eat. Played kickball, dodgeball, basketball, Wii, XBOX, and hung out. Watched "Remember the Titans." Did not sleep. Looked at four words that need to be in every young man's life...RISK, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and RELATIONSHIP.

Girls: Decorated pillow cases and cookies. Did nails, hair, etc. Hung-out. Got a little more sleep than the boys, but not much. Looked at where a girls' real beauty comes from as it relates to friendships, clothing, and more.

Overall, it was an awesome time. Thanks to all those who participated and helped pull off the 2008 Burly Gurly.

Burly/Gurly Deadline

It is happening on February 17-18, which is Sunday and Monday. There is no school because of President's Day. The deadline is this Wednesday, February 13th. If you come after the deadline, your participation will depend on space. The cost is $10.00...if you do not have it...sign-up anyway. You'll be covered.

Boys: They will be crashing in the Gym. They will be doing "burly" stuff and discovering the young men that God wants them to be. It will be a camp-in. They need to bring their sleeping bag or blanket and a pillow. They can also bring a tent to sleep in as well. We will pitch it on the Gym floor. The boys will start at 7:30 pm on Sunday and end at 7:00 am on Monday.

Girls: They will be having an old fashion sleepover and do "gurly" stuff and staying in homes. They will be discovering the young women that God wants them to be. They also need to bring their sleeping bag or blanket and a pillow. They will begin at 7:30 pm on Sunday and wrap-up at 10:00 am on Monday.

After Wednesday we will send a letter to the signees with more detail on the logistics.
