Sunday School

This Sunday will mark a shift in our ministry to Middle School Students. This past year, we have utilized Sunday mornings with small groups focusing on the Old Testament. This fall we will go back into small groups and focus on the New Testament.

What about the summer? We will be meeting in a larger group setting. The boys will be doing a study together simply entitled "Boys." It will focus on issues facing early adolescent boys. The girls will be doing a study together called "Girls." It will zero in on the needs of early adolescent girls. It looks to be a great experience!

Great Night at Party Central!

Our group had a great night at Party Central! There were more 6th and 7th graders that attended this event that any other the First Baptist Church Middle School Ministry has ever done! The students arrived and either played in the 6th grade or 7th grade party room. After awhile of playing we had the 6th graders come out and hear a very special presentation of the Gospel. Then the 7th graders were brought out to hear the same message. At the end of the night, we had several students hang back and ask questions about Jesus. We also had others that made the decision to follow Christ as their Lord and Savior! What a great night!

WOW - Week of Worship

Do you remember going to VBS? It’s a great thing, but it’s time for something new. We want you to step up and come check out W.O.W. It is your very own FBC Middle School Ministry’s “Week of Worship.” W.O.W is happening on June 16-20 from 9 am - 12 pm each day. It will be the same time as the Children’s VBS. It is all taking place at FBC. You will need to come to the Upper Room each day.

Our W.O.W theme is going to be Action Heroes. There are people in the Bible that seem like heroes, but they still have weaknesses. The best part is that God used them to make a difference even through all their mistakes. God wants to do the same through us today! It’s going be a blast! Each day we meet will be filled with tons of stuff. We’ll be hanging out, eating great food, and playing loud games. We’ll also be worshipping by learning lots of stuff from God’s Word. You don’t want to miss this!

The first thing you need to do is get a registration form. If all possible turn your form in earlier to help us gather a pre-registered number. If not, just bring it with you to WOW. Secondly, we encourage you to invite friends to come along with you each day. Anyone can come at anytime throughout the week. The cost is $10.00 per person for the week. This provides an official W.O.W t-shirt, food, notebook, and lots of activities. You can bring friends anytime during the week.

Reading to Leading

There is something you must know...Leaders are Learners. The day you stop learning is the day you stop leading and discovering new ways to help people. One of the greatest ways to learn is by reading. This summer you will sleep, play, and relax. This is all good stuff, but you do not want your brain to go to mush. Jump on board for our Reading to Leading program. This is a brand new experience for our ministry and you are invited.

What do you need to do to be involved? You first need to sign-up and submit payment for your books. The cost for the books is $36.00. The books will be yours to keep, read, underline, highlight, and share. Our first meeting will be June 4th. It is at this time you will be given your books, a reading log, and timeline to journey along the way.

Finally, show up to our scheduled meetings and we will discuss our thoughts from the readings. Our meeting times will be from 5:15 pm—5:45 pm each Wenesday that our group meets. The deadline to sign-up is May 28th. Once you finish reading…your mind will be sharper and your heart will be stronger.

Here are our books for the summer months:
June - My Family; July - My Friends; August - My School

Great Job to the Students

Our students did an incredible job Wednesday Night in Selph Hall. We were actually down about 30 students due to a change in the school physicals. There were 6 students that shared through spoken word followed by the entire group singing two songs with a special solo. It is incredible to see the heart of a 6th and 7th grader sharing and singing the Word of God. Our people enjoyed the time of worship and emphasis on the Middle School Ministry. Here are a couple pictures of the group.
