Celebration Service
The Paint Your Heart Out Celebration Service will occur in Selph Hall on Wednesday, July 2nd at 7:00 pm. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN PAINT YOUR HEART OUT TO ATTEND. We want everyone there! We will be having Jonathan Curtis share with us. He will be doing his "Seeing Is Not Believing" show. It is an interactive presentation of the plan of salvation using large scale illusions. Our hope is that the audience will never forget these visual illustrations that directly relate to a relationship with God. There is a natural connection between performing something that is beyond belief and the unbelievable, undeniable, and unconditional love of God. See you and a few of your friends there!

WOW...Final Day
WOW is done! It has been a great week. Friday is the official play day of WOW. Each year we rent inflatables for our time together. This year we got the dual water slide and slip n slide. The students loved it! God blessed us and the rain stayed away.
After playing, we came back in for a break; it was cookie day! Then we broke down the bases and cleaned up a little. When we finally came to the end, the Army of the Week was announced. It was the Red Army!
All in all, it was a great week. We were able to see a good number of kids come through daily even though we were plagued by band camp, cheerleading camp, baseball and golf. A special thanks goes to all those who served and provided resources for us.
If a student was absent…they will need to grab their Scripture Boxes and t-shirts later. They are available to be picked up!

WOW...Day 4
Day 4 of WOW is completed. As of today, the Blue Army stepped ahead with 163,000 points. There have been three lead changes in the competition to be the team of the week. Our General of the Day was Sara. The General of the Day receives candy and two water pistols. They get to sit in the “cushiony” chair, which is set aside just for them. No one else is allowed to sit in it.
We switched things up a little today and went straight into Scripture Boxes. Our hope is that this will become a resource for students later down the road. It would sit in their room and be accessed often to solutions to the dilemmas of life. An upcoming 10th grader told me that he still had his from Middle School!
This was followed by our version of the classic game…Family Feud. We looked at Middle Schoolers favorite fast food places, Bible stories, and more. Next, we took a break and enjoyed ice cream. A special thanks goes to all those who have provided snacks. It saves our ministry time and money! Finally, we went into another round worship. Our teacher today was Eric. He talked about Paul. The key statement today is “God can change anyone.” The students wrapped up by talking about this in their small groups.
Tomorrow is play day. Students need to wear dark color shirts and shorts and bring a towel. Our group will meet in the Upper Room as normal then go down to the Gym parking. We will be playing on a really big inflatable slip n slide and water slide.

WOW...Day 3
Day 3 of WOW is over. It has been great thus far. The Red Army has taken the lead with 107,000 points. What a turn around…they were in dead last yesterday! Our time began as Jake was chosen as the General of the Day. This was followed by a game called “E-Bay Guess.” The Blue Army took this one.
Next, the students went into their armies to spontaneously bring together dramas! Each group was assigned to do two 3-4 minute skits. One was really goofy and the other was much more focused as it connected to our themes of the week. The teams did great! This was followed by Scripture Boxes. We have had a couple of students go through the entire list! It is now time for them to come up with issues and verses to put in the boxes themselves. Then off to snack...cereal day.
Finally, we went back into worship. Our teacher today was David. He actually talked about David from the Bible. The key statement today is “God’s grace is bigger than out goof-ups.” The students wrapped up by talking about this in their small groups.
The best part of the day was when we had a student ask Christ into his heart!

WOW...Day 2
Day 2 of WOW is in the books! At the conclusion of Day 1, the Green Army was leading all teams with 48,000 points. We kicked off today with the armies competing for...you guessed it... more points. The Red Army was the first group to unthaw a t-shirt and put around their neck. The Blue Army got the most legible signatures on a foot in one minute. Bekah was named our General of the Day!
Everyone then went to their base camps and built rubber band balls. This was a hit. They began with a piece of paper, which was the color of their army. Then they crumbled the paper and started placing rubberbands all around it. Next, it was time to jump back into the Scripture Boxes. Some of the kids are rolling along. This is going to be a great resource! After Scripture Boxes, we took a break and feasted on lots of chips and dip.
Finally, we spent time in worship and looked at Rahab. The theme today is that "God wants all people on His team." The students then broke into small groups to take this concept to the next step.

WOW...Day 1
WOW officially launched today! This is our 3rd year to do WOW within the Middle School Ministry. It has been a great asset! The day began as students were assigned armies and competed for points to become the team of the week. I hope it was worthing drinking buttermilk from a baby bottle and screaming at the top of your lungs! Also, congraulations to our General of the Day...Brody!
The students then broke into their armies. During this time they created a flag, a name, and a base. This will serve as their central meeting places for the week. Then students began building their weapons. The Bible describes God's Word as a sword...it is our weapon of faith. Each day students are working on Scripture Boxes. After this, it was time for a break and snacks...trail mix day! Finally, we gathered together to worship God in song and Word. Clay shared about Moses. Our focus for the day is that "God is stronger than our weaknesses." The students capped off the time in small groups discussing the content from the message.

WOW...Just Around the Corner
Here are some answers to the questions about WOW...●What is W.O.W? - Do you remember going to Vacation Bible School? It’s a great thing, but it’s time for something different. We want you to step up and check out W.O.W. It is the First Baptist Church Middle School Ministry’s “Week of Worship.”
●When and where is W.O.W? - W.O.W. will be on June 16-20 from 9 am - Noon each day. It will be the same time as our Children’s Vacation Bible School. W.O.W is taking place at First Baptist Church in the Upper Room.
●What is the W.O.W theme? - Our theme this year is going to be “Action Heroes.” There are people in the Bible that we think of as heroes, but they still have weaknesses. The best part is that God used them to make a difference. God wants to do the same through us today! Here is a sneak peak at our characters from each day…
Monday: Moses - “God’s stronger than our weaknesses.”
Tuesday: Rahab - “God wants all people on His team.”
Wednesday: David - “God’s grace is bigger than our goof-ups.”
Thursday: Paul - “God can change anyone.”
●What happens at W.O.W? - We’ll be hanging out, eating great food, sharing in awesome activities, and playing loud games. We will be breaking into small groups for recreation & Bible study. We’ll be led in worship by incredible leaders and teachers. Your groups will be competing in various competitions and strive to become the “Army of the Week.” The army with the most points at the end of the week will be declared the winner! Here are a few ways that your group can win points come out on top… show up each day, bring friends, bring your Bible, quote you memory verse, give to the Offering Project. What is the Offering Project? It will go to our Missions 101 project at the Union Rescue Mission. Here is what you need to bring each day to represent your group…Non-Perishable Food Items
●What about Friday? - Did we mention Friday? We’ll be outside on a huge inflatable slip-n-slide and water slide.
●What do I need to do to sign-up? - The first thing you need to do is turn in the registration form. If all possible turn your form in earlier to help us gather a pre-registered number. If you cannot, bring it with you to W.O.W. The cost is $10.00 per person for the week. This provides an official W.O.W t-shirt, food, notebook, and lots of activities.
●What if I cannot come everyday? – If you can only come once…we want you there! If you can come all the days…even better. Come when you can!
●Can I bring friends? - We encourage you to invite friends to come along with you each day. Anyone can come at anytime throughout the week. Don’t let your buddies miss out on a great experience at church!
●Is there a deadline for t-shirts? - If you want a W.O.W. t-shirt, you must be registered by Tuesday, June 17th. You will then receive your shirt on Friday.
Wednesday: David - “God’s grace is bigger than our goof-ups.”
Thursday: Paul - “God can change anyone.”

Last Night
Our first Wednesday night of the summer went great. We were way down in numbers, but not spirit. Everyone was tuned into the Bible study. We essentially talked about "God does not always give us what we want."
Many times God says "no" because He has something better for us or we ask with the wrong motives. Either way, God is ALWAYS good and because of that we must trust Him.
