Burly/Gurly

It’s time for the ultimate Middle School boys’ and girls’ night out. You don’t want to miss it! Come hang out with friends and discover the young man or young woman that God has created you to be. Here is a breakdown of the night...

BOYS:
You will be doing “burly” stuff. You will be eating lots of food, burping, playing ball, and using your manly skills to build something awesome!

GIRLS:
You will be doing “gurly” stuff. You will be eating, giggling, talking, and creating something special!

It’s all happening on Sunday, February 15th...from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. The cost is $10.00 per person. The deadline to register is Wednesday, February 11th. Burly/Gurly will take place on the FBC campus.

Forward Motion #3

This week it is about a celebration of the steps that students take in their relationships with God! It’s all about celebration, not the cheap kind of celebration that comes from making a big deal out of nothing, but the real party that comes naturally when we know that we have made even the slightest move in the right direction. Students will talk this week about what it looks like to encourage each other and celebrate with each other whenever they make progress toward one of their goals.

Middle School Ministry Space

The announcement came months ago, but the reality of it all is happening now! Our Middle School Ministry has had meeting space reserved for awhile, but the official construction began last week.

There will be walls knocked down, carpet laid, and paint brushed. It is an exciting time. When the entire area is finished, it will meet the needs of our 6/7 graders and provide additional gathering locations for the entire church.

Forward Motion #2

This Wednesday 1/21 in Common Ground we will be looking at Week #2 of Forward Motion...

The way you get from where you are to where you want to be is one step at a time. This may sound ridiculously obvious, but we all forget it. We want to go to the gym one time and look like a model; we want to make one smart comment at work and be promoted right to the top. But we know deep down that isn’t the way things work.

The good news is that in our spiritual development, God has not left us alone to work out the mess. He has sent His Spirit to guide us. This week, students will look at the power of the Holy Spirit to guide their paths, and they will make a plan for beginning to take the first step toward their goals.

Reality Weekend Report

It was another great Reality Weekend. In fact, it was the best to date! There was an incredible turnout of 6/7 graders! Each of these students were assigned caring Host Homes, College Leaders, and Manna Providers.

Our three sessions were led by David Nassar through preaching. He spent the entire weekend talking about Ephesians 2:1-10. The music was led by Billy and Cindy Foote. They did an incredble job of helping us give praise to God.

Each worship session was followed by a Bible study for each Host Home. Each Host Home also created a work project, which raised lots of funds for Compassion International. We wrapped up Saturday night with a Middle School Scavenger Hunt at the church.

A special thanks to all those you helped...it could not have happened without you! THANK-YOU! Finally, all praise to God for saving some of our Middle School students. Our ministry is looking forward to experiencing more and more of the blessings from this weekend in the upcoming days!

Reality Weekend Update

As of this date, we have the largest crew of Middle Schoolers ever for this event. God has blessed us by sending many students our direction. As Reality Weekend approaches, here are three things to note:

-If you have not gotten your registration form in, please do so immediately. Our homes are reaching capacity.

-Due to the large number of kids, our ministry could utilize an additional Host Home and three more Manna Providers.

-Please pray that God would do something so great that we could only give Him the credit.

Contact us if you have questions concerning the upcoming weekend.

Forward Motion #1

Here is a description of week one in our new series for Common Ground...

Following Christ is about steps, not leaps. This week kids will be introduced to the myth: that Christianity is all about taking big leaps of faith. They will encounter some of Scripture’s most daunting verses, and wrestle with what it means to have a life of spiritual growth. Each student will set a goal for himself or herself, and the next few weeks they will revisit their goals.

Big Wednesday

There are two big things happening this Wednesday, January 7. Be sure you don't miss a minute of it!

#1) Reality Weekend: The deadline is this Wednesday. The event is happening on January 16-18. This is a life changing weekend. The cost is $45.00 per student. There are always scholarships available. No one…no one will ever be turned away because of money. To the exception of camp…this will be one of the…if not the most expensive events of the year. We want to encourage kids to bring lots of friends. If you happen to miss the deadline...don't fret... you can still be involved. The later your form arrives the chances of receiving a t-shirt and getting with more of your friends decreases.

#2) Common Ground: Common Ground kicks off this Wednesday as well. The location and times are the same. There will be a fresh look as we implement a brand new curriculum. Our series is entitled, "Forward Motion."

Parent's Meeting
