Great Night!
We had a great night at the Hereafter House!
Thanks to Holland Chapel Baptist Church for putting on this event. They invest a great deal of time, energy, prayer, and resources into the Hereafter House.
Also, thanks to a great group of our adults that came and walked through with our kids.
This was the 2nd time for the Middle Schoolers to attend the Hereafter House. The first go around was in 2005. This time, in 2009, we had 2 1/2 times more students participate.
The best part of all were the students that became followers of Christ tonight! To God be all the glory!

Chosen Generation
I Peter 2:9 says, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." On Sunday, January 10, 2010, the Middle School Ministry will launch a brand new gathering called Chosen Generation. (I Peter 2:9)
The Middle School Ministry will utilize this time to focus more on the worship arts. In 2005, choir was the ministry to Middle Schoolers on Wednesday nights here at FBC. Due to this, there were not too many students involved. When Common Ground was implemented, Wednesday night participation quadrupled.
The only problem was the absence of consistent choir and music. Since then, our Middle School Ministry Intern has done an unbelievable job of leading and engaging kids in music. Chosen Generation will now open that opportunity to all students.
This time will happen on Sunday evenings taking the place of Grow U. The time will be focused on music. Kids can come and sing together. Chosen Generation will engage students into music now and be great preparation for moving up into Pure Energy later.

Amazing Race
We had a fantastic time at the 3rd annual Amazing Race! We kicked the night off with registration. It was awesome to have such a great participation. In fact, we had enough students to form 26 teams! Next, we ate lots of ice cream sundaes! As everyone ate together, the Amazing Race teams were being formed. The teams were then announced and unleashed into the community on a special mission.
The teams only had 1 hour to go into the neighborhoods asking people for non-perishable food items to help the Care Center. The Care Center is located right next to our church and helps people everyday. Each item that the teams accrued were worth a certain amount of points. The teams were challenged to get as much and as many of it as they could. The more each team got, the better chance they had of winning 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, and the more people that would be helped.
Once everyone arrived they unloaded items and turned in scores. We ended the night by announcing the winners and worshipping God through song and the Word. A special thanks goes to the kids for working so hard, the adults for driving, and those who shared from their cupboards. May God get the Glory!
